My First Chemo August 13, 2008

This is the 13th after my first chemo. Started to feel bad about the 9th day, with low grade fever and a swelling throat. Unable to eat and swallow until the doctor prescribed antibiotics. Then the swelling went down. Fever also went down from about 38.7 to 36.9.

Now the hair is starting to fall out as well.

Otherwise feeling pretty good. Can eat small-grained foods, like rice, cereal. They do not irritate the canker sores in my mouth as much. Am drinking a fluid made by boiling Ma(3)Ti(2), Lu(2)Gen(1) together. This is helping the body to cope with the “heat” generated by the chemo treatments.

The kids are doing fine. They probably notice mom is more absent-minded, because her mind is often somewhere else. They play all day and enjoy each other’s company now more than ever.

Riley, our first son, is now sleeping in his own room by himself! Hurray!!!!! After 6 years, Aubrey and I have finally made it to this day!!! 🙂 I remember Riley’s birth as if it was yesterday. He is easily the most affectionate of the three children and most clingy. Being the oldest, his arms have most often been wrapped around my neck, and he has sat the most often on his dad’s shoulders. Our oldest son is growing up! And we are so proud of him!

I will work at least half a day today. I may have NOT worked for only three work days so far. Sometimes I work from home.

To my dear friends: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You made my journey so much easier with you concern and help. I could not have done it without you! Thank you for all your prayers! Surely there is a reward in heaven for all those who pray because God works through prayers.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
